The Venue for the Titles was Brassall, Ipswich and accommodation for all regions needed to be found. This was not an easy task but finally the ‘Son Shine Ranch’ some kilometers west of Ipswich was chosen. A bus ferried the players back and forth and the accommodation was in bunkhouses with meals provided in the dining hall along with other youth groups that were there at the time. There was a number of sporting facilities and a lake for canoeing - some of our players managed to get wet!. The team defended the Overall Team Title successfully.

We were the best!!! Again team spirit was the key to success. How daunting it must have been for the opposition to look up and see nothing but the blue tracksuits with the red and yellow trim surrounding the court. Sometimes the opposition would have no support at all except the marker or referee. Southern Region team members supported their players without fail and if one player was having a hard time more support was found from a court where our players were having an easier run. It worked! The back up crew washed uniforms, ironed and provided a great lunch each day and so the team ran like an well oiled machine. The Official Team Photo shows that again, we won the ‘Fashion Stakes’ - well after all, we did have a fashion designer making our tracksuits!
